Tribal Sky

Hi lovelies! School's still really hectic, but I think the worst of my cold is gone, so I'm managing a bit better. Also, St. Patrick's Day is coming up! I never really cared for it in the past, but now that I'm legal I suppose a bit of celebration is necessary ;) I'm itching to break out the greens too. I recently stole borrowed all of the pretty green polish from my house and brought them back with me to res. They're currently sitting on my book shelf just waiting to be used, so expect so green manicures soon!

I did these nails last night. Usually these would be added to the queue and probably wouldn't be posted until Saturday, but I was so pleased with them that I had to show you them right away. I went back to my comfort zone and did variations of gradients with three colours. I was originally only going to do a couple of the nails as gradients, but I'm glad I did all of them. I think the gradient effect really ties the manicure together nicely :)

After that I slapped on a half tribal print on top. I'm in love with the look of the fading print, especially on the index and middle finger!

The colours I used were American Apparel T-Shirt, American Apparel American Denim, and Essie Play Date. The colour closest to the cuticle is the one I applied first to the entire nail. When that was dry I used the next colour to make the gradient with a makeup sponge. Lastly, I took a striping brush to paint on the tribal print.

Thanks for looking- lots of love to you all!

  7. I have so much trouble doing gradients with anything but glitter, but these are so cute I think I might have to get out my sponges and figure it out!
