Hello! I hope you've been having a good week so far. Mine has been pretty uneventful, aside from some major nail trauma. If you follow me on Instagram you might have seen this awful photo. The nail on my pinky ripped really deep down the nail bed. It's hanging on for dear life there, but it's too deep to cut off without being painful. Luckily I managed to tea bag it with some school glue and strengthening base coat. I wasn't sure if the school glue would cut it but it's working well for now, phew! Have you had any cringe-worthy nail trauma? How did you deal with it?
I covered up the tea bag mess with this design. I don't think I've ever combined primary colours like this, but it's a refreshing change! I thought that the horizontal stripes were very chic, and for some reason 'French Riviera' kept popping up in my head as I was painting these. To be honest, I don't really know what French Riviera fashion entails but a quick Google search shows lots of horizontal stripes, so hey, why not?
I started with a base of American Apparel T-Shirt for the striped nails. Then I took a striping brush to paint the stripes with American Apparel Manila, American Apparel Poppy, and American Apparel Cameo Blue.
I created the flowers on a base of American Apparel Cameo Blue with a dotting tool. They're actually very similar to the ones I did in "Pretty Perennials". They're super simple to do and the small size makes them extra cute! The trick to all florals is to add leaves, I think. A couple quick strokes with a striping brush and the design looks so much better! :)
Despite nearly losing half a nail, I'm still really happy with how my nails look right now. I like this design a lot and I'll definitely be doing more horizontal stripes in the future. Have a good weekend and see you Saturday!
