Whimsical Wonder

I hope your weekend has been nice so far! The first days of June have been consumed by cloudy skies and torrential downpour so it's oddly feeling like the beginning of spring again.

I have a pretty boring manicure for you today. The colours look much brighter in person but the overcast skies did not play well with my photos ): I always have high hopes for Revlon Whimsical but I've felt a bit underwhelmed by it both times I've used it. I think I keep choosing the wrong base colour and the sparse glitter distribution frustrates me to no end. Oh well ):

The colours I used here are American Apparel Coney IslandChina Glaze Kinetic Candy and Revlon Whimsical.

Here's hoping that this first official week of June yields beautiful weather for both you and me! (:

  2. I love this mani, Brittney! The different looks all fit together brilliantly, and I like the way the pink and blue bring out the glitter.

I keep meaning to do Whimsical over China Glaze Sea Spray--I think the paler, slightly grey helps Whimsical's glitter stand out a little, but honestly, the combination you have here looks awesome!

  3. omgosh i feel the same way about whimsical! i was expecting it to be loads of awesome by the looks of it in the bottle, but the glitter is sooo sparse!i've seen lots of manis with it, and i think it tends to look better with dusty shades. im thinking of keeping the bottle upside down before use so more of the glitters are suspended in the polish? i'll let you know if it works, haha (:

  4. I know how you feel, I've use Whimsical once and it turned out meh! The glitter is super hard to get up on the nail. Nonetheless, the mani looks great, they colours would be neat for a baby shower :D

  7. Have you tried Whimsical over a light purple yet? I never thought to use it but it actually looks quite nice =] And I also hate the sparse amount of glitter in it! Love this mani =]

  8. I've tried it over a very light, muted pink-purple colour and I wasn't too pleased with it. If I do try it again, I'll try a true light purple though! (: Thank you very much, Courtney! <3

  10. Haha that seems to be the general consensus! The upside down thing is a good idea! The polish seems pretty runny though so the glitter seems to move around pretty easily in the bottle ): I look forward to seeing your results! :D

  11. Thank you, Elizabeth! I'm glad you like it :D
That sounds like a good combo! By the bottle colour I was expecting Kinetic Candy to be paler and lighter but it ended up going on a lot brighter and greener than expected ):
