Prom Perfect (8 Nail Designs!)

As some of you may know from my previous posts, my prom is finally coming up this Friday! It's literally the last possible day to have it, since I don't think anyone has prom in July. I wanted to branch out with my nail endeavors and prom seemed like a good place to start. I offered other girls from my school the chance to have a set of false nails hand painted by me. I had a relatively good response to it and I finally have them all finished.

Orders came in at random times. I wanted to post these sooner to give you some ideas in case you had your prom but I waited until they were all done. Maybe next year? (: For those wondering, the process involved sizing each 'client', one nail at a time. Then I looked at their prom dress, came up with a few options on a nail wheel and we negotiated until they liked a design. Then I hand clipped and filed down the nails where they could finally be painted. Phew!

Enough rambling, here are the nails, named by the initial of each girl! The blue-ish stuff you see on some of the translucent nails is just temporary adhesive. If you want to know any specific polishes, just ask! (:

C: clear to gold & holographic glitter with rhinestones.

E: light purple to fuchsia gradient with fine silver shimmer and rhinestones.

G: nude with gunmetal and black triangles.

M: clear to iridescent silver glitter with rhinestones.

O: clear to green glass fleck with fuchsia flowers and rhinestones.

V: clear to silver glitter.

A: clear to gold glitter.

K: light purple to dark purple gradient with fine silver shimmer and silver glitter.

Evidently the trend for this year is gradients and heaps of glitter. I hope you liked all of these different looks!

Cut Out & Keep

Hello there! It's been a while, hasn't it? I spent the week studying and writing my exams. It was grueling and nail polish-free but it's finally all over! I'm officially done high school. I thought I would feel a tad bittersweet about it but mostly I'm just relieved and excited haha. Next week I have graduation, prom, and then I'm leaving for the cottage for the week. I'm going to try to paint some designs and maybe film a tutorial (fingers crossed!) this week though, so that I have some posts to draft and schedule (:

So here is my latest manicure. It's very much inspired by the lovely negative space/cut out designs of DISCO NAILS. I always thought that the crosses looked cool but I felt that they might have been inappropriate in a high school setting. Now I can finally do them! :D I messed up the sides of the cross (they're uneven) so I think I'll have to try this look again another time.

I painted all nails with Seche Chemise. For the gradient nails I used a makeup sponge to sponge on Sally Hansen Gilty Treasure, Jessica Smokey Feather, China Glaze Liquid Leather, LA Girls Uninhibited, and Sephora by OPI Only Gold For Me. For the cut out nails I outlined the shapes with a black striping polish, filled out the sides with OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls and reoutlined again.

Thank you for stopping by! I'm off to catch up on some replying and hopefully some blog reading! Enjoy the rest of your weekend (:

All Wrapped Up

Hello! I'm leaving for one of my graduation ceremonies very shortly so here's a quick post for you. I did a very simple and speedy manicure with some cute bow accents plus rhinestones.

I started with China Glaze Sweet Hook and layered OPI Care to Danse for a jelly look. Then I added a coat of Nubar White Polka Dot. For the bows I freehanded them with Essie Play Date and outlined them with a white striping brush.

Thank you so much for your views and comments! After next week I`ll be done with exams and hopefully back on track. Much love!

Luxe Leopard

Hi friends! The weather is finally hot and beautiful like it should be! Summer is going to be great, I can feel it. This week is my last official week of high school ever before exams. After that I graduate, go to prom, etc etc. Very exciting (:

So I just finished saying on Twitter that I can't do leopard/cheetah print for the life of me. The very first nail post on this blog contains the only one I've ever done, I believe. My later attempts were pretty embarrassing, especially since this print is quite elementary ): But that's all in the past now! I sat down the other day and said why not, let's give it a go, and here is the result. The mix between leopard and glitter is very luxe, I'm enjoying it (:

For the patterned nails I started off with Essie Sand Tropez. I used a small paint brush to paint on the print and filled in the spots with Nails Inc Chelsea Square. I used the same polish for the accent nails but first put a base of China Glaze Sex on the Beach.

The Nails Inc polish is a gift from my sister! She picked it up for me when she went to Boston and it's so very pretty (:

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Sunset Zebra

Hello! The weather is still on the cold side here but I figured that it's time to bite the bullet and officially stray away from all the spring pastels I've been using. This is a manicure featuring some of the recent glass flecks from Color Club's Take Wing collection for summer. Glass flecks are my guilty pleasure. They're so sparkly and beautiful, I wish I had more of them! And to anyone having trouble with the recent gradient trend, glass flecks are probably the easiest way to achieve the look with a simple sponging method. The semi-opaque colour combined with the ample shimmer allow them to blend into each other flawlessly (:

I painted each nail with Color Club Daisy Does It. Then I proceeded to sponge on Color Club Sparkle and Soar followed by Color Club Wing Fling. To finish I added some quick zebra stripes with a black striping polish.

Have a lovely work week and thanks for stopping by!

Whimsical Wonder

I hope your weekend has been nice so far! The first days of June have been consumed by cloudy skies and torrential downpour so it's oddly feeling like the beginning of spring again.

I have a pretty boring manicure for you today. The colours look much brighter in person but the overcast skies did not play well with my photos ): I always have high hopes for Revlon Whimsical but I've felt a bit underwhelmed by it both times I've used it. I think I keep choosing the wrong base colour and the sparse glitter distribution frustrates me to no end. Oh well ):

The colours I used here are American Apparel Coney IslandChina Glaze Kinetic Candy and Revlon Whimsical.

Here's hoping that this first official week of June yields beautiful weather for both you and me! (:
