Hello, dear readers, I hope you had a lovely Easter weekend :) I found a moment of spare time last night to paint my nails so I tried a design I've had in my head for awhile. Ever since fashion house Miu Miu came out with their iconic swallow print, I've been in love. It's such a pretty, clean pattern and so very chic. Here I paired it with some more of my favourite things: gradients and Ruffian. I'm enjoying this colour combination- the gradient reminds me of a summer sunrise :)
On my thumb and ring finger I started with American Apparel Palm Springs. I sponged on the gradient with a makeup sponge and American Apparel L'Esprit. On the rest of the fingers I started with American Apparel Mount Royal. I painted on the Ruffian with American Apparel Palm Springs and repeated the previous process for the gradient. I freehanded the swallows with a small nail art brush and American Apparel Mount Royal.
I ended up using entirely American Apparel polishes for this look. Their creme range is so beautiful, creamy and opaque. They're some of my favourite polishes for nail art :) I'm also playing around with my watermark a bit. My old one was way less intrusive but pretty useless :P Hopefully this one isn't too distracting from the nail art :)
That's all for now! Next week will be the busiest yet for me but after that I'll be free! So please stay tuned until then for some better posts <3

ReplyDeleteThank you, Victoria! My hands are actually very shaky, I got it from my dad's side of the family :P Somehow I've overcome it though! :) I'm not by any means ambidextrous but I manage to paint both hands. My dominant hand is usually a bit messier though due to lack of skill and dwindling patience haha. That's why you only see my left hand in photos :P
ReplyDeleteLovely nail art! The birds are beautiful! <3

wow that looks great :) how did you managed to "mix" the two colores?
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely amazing!
ReplyDeleteI recently saw a tutorial on the gradient colouring and tried it the other day - but it didn't work at all. The colour just didn't transfer from the sponge onto the nail. Not sure what I did wrong
Amazing post dear!

ReplyDeleteThank you, Anika! I first painted on the peachy colour. Then on a piece of foil I mixed a drop of peach with a drop of the blue. Pick up the new colour with your sponge and sponge it on the nails, starting from the tip and stopping around the middle. Take a bit of just the blue and sponge the tips only. I only needed to do one mix of colour but depending on what colours you choose you might need to do several gradual mixes, changing up the ratio of drops of each colour :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! Are you talking about the one from the beauty department, where they painted the gradient onto the sponge first? It could be that the nail polish had already dried before you got a chance to put it on your nails.
ReplyDeleteIn any case, that's not the method I used here. I started off by painting my nails with the peachy colour. Then on a piece of foil I mixed a drop of peach with a drop of the blue. Pick up the new colour with your sponge and sponge it on the nails, starting from the tip and stopping around the middle. Take a bit of just the blue and sponge the tips only. I only needed to do one mix of colour but depending on what colours you choose you might need to do several gradual mixes, changing up the ratio of drops of each colour.
If your gradient isn't quite blended nicely, try adding a subtle shimmer/glitter topcoat to blend it out, or regular topcoat blends it a bit too. Hope this helps! xo
I absolutely adore this! I've never seen a ruffian and a gradient in the same look, at least not like this! And the colors! Just wow!
